This was a spur of the moment book selection at the library last week. On first reading I wasn’t sure if it had been a sensible choice. It is aimed for older children than Luath and it could be a bit scary for her (she likes scary things but is also quite sensitive). We read it a couple of times and it has grown on us both. It is now Luath’s first request book.
Charlie loves sugar doughnuts. His mum sends him to borrow Mr Beast’s large frying pan so she can make plenty. He is supposed to return with a frying pan full of doughnuts but Charlie eats them all. Mr Beast tells him in return he is coming to eat Charlie. In true thriller style, you then see the build up and then the big event.
Brilliant sound noises to make and fun monster images to look out for.
