We get used to the rain here, umbrellas, jacket, wellies, they are all part of our life. We have had a wet winter but yesterday was nice and today is positively summery. Thursdays we often go swimming, but the weather is too good to hide indoors.
After yesterday's muddy puddle tumble, Luath had on her snowsuit. A bit OTT for the sun, but she just had a vest and tights on underneath. It was perfect for sitting among the grass in the garden, while I tried to work out exactly what we are going to do with the garden to make it more user friendly for Luath, the dog and for my veggies (daddy only really uses the garden to sit and read on a warm day).. It is small, on a slope and has a big drop to the patio. We moved just before I was pregnant so I have had a long time to think but I still a not sure what will work best. Plenty of ideas in my head and I have seen some gorgeous outdoor child spaces online.
Anyway Luath was happy just to sit, watch, feel the grass, taste the grass - (possibly inspired by the dog but Luath decided it wasn't that exciting) and to play with her bucket. She had no desire to walk.
Since it was so nice we headed for the sandy beach a few minutes walk away. Last time we were on the beach Luath only took a few steps. This time she took plenty.
First thing she did was pick up a big mussel shell and she kept hold of this for almost all the time we were on the beach.

We watched the vehicles load on and off the ferry. Almost every driver smiled at us, some even waved, the sunny weather and a little child on the beach cheering people up.
It took a while for us to walk home, as Luath had lots to investigate- walls, wooden gates, metal gates, lampposts, sitting on the road (sounds more dangerous than it was!). It is so much fun taking in the world through the eyes of Luath. Lets hope the weather stays good for a few more days, especially for the weekend so we can take daddy on an adventure.
