Celebrations – a birthday ring

I have debated since before Luath’s first birthday about purchasing a birthday ring.  I really like the idea but thought it was quite expensive when you add in all the extras. I also couldn’t quite find objects for the ring that I felt fitted Luath’s likes at 1 or 2.   I decided to buy a wooden twelve holed birthday ring, along with twelve photo holders for the ring (they are quite cheap). Sadly the ring went out of stock as I ordered it, so it didn’t arrive for Luath’s birthday.

I still can’t decide what to use as a reminder of Luath’s first birthday but for her second I thought I would make a wooden Stuffy (he was the character on her cake and card).  He was also very easy to make.  I used a natural coloured wooden cube from Luath’s building blocks.  Luath and I  coloured him with pens.  I am thinking I will be able to glue him on to a photo holder for the ring.  He sat happily (and still does) on our table centrepiece with two candles.

I am also thinking how we could use the ring to celebrate the rest of our birthdays – maybe something for each month since there are 12 holes, and also how we can use the ring for other celebrations during the year.  Hopefully it will arrive soon.

(Luath is 24 months)
