Outdoors – Hansel and Gretel Play

Luath received a set of fairy tale stories for her birthday.  One of her favourite’s is Hansel and Gretel.  We decided to act out some of the story in the woods.

First daddy and Luath hunted for white stones as the pebbles for leaving a trail.

Once they had collected enough the plan was that daddy would take the dog for a walk leaving us to explore the woods but we were to leave him a trail of pebbles.  We placed some arrows at a junction so he would know the direction, but Luath didn’t want to to leave the trail so we played until daddy returned.

Daddy and Luath then went for a stroll along a path pretending to be Hansel and Gretel, leaving the pebbles on their way.  They then followed the trail back.

We then played lots of hide and seek on our return to the start of the woods.  We ham the looking, usually it is very obvious where we are, but we pretend we can’t see whoever is hiding.  Luath is getting quite an actress and will walk right past saying “oh where is mummy", I can’t see her anywhere”.  Luath finds the game very funny and laughs so much she would give the game away if we where properly hidden.

Both daddy and Luath are very keen to have a house made of sweets to be the next part in acting out the story.
(Luath is 25 months)
