Book of the week - Freddie and the Fairy

We did a Julia Donaldson book last week (the Smartest Giant in Town ) and this week's book is another one by her.  Luath selected it from the library yesterday.  Our mobile library has all the kids books in wooden boxes on the floor and Luath had picked out a few books and this was one that I thought we would enjoy.  Since getting it yesterday I have read it enough times that I can pretty much recite it.

Freddie finds a fairy tangled in a tree, he rescues her and so she will grant him wishes.  Freddie wants a pet.  The problem is that she can't hear well and Freddie mumbles, so he doesn't get what he asks for.  The fairy queen appears to help out.

It has a rhyming text and a lesson about talking clearly and not to cover your mouth when talking.  A fun book for Luath now, but this could work well for older kids and could have lots of fun thing of other rhyming words to work with what Freddie asked for.  It also teaqches about hearing impairment.
