We were given this book a few weeks ago (this edition is out of print). It is aimed at over 3s and it explains about babies growing starting with an egg. It compares human babies to different creature's babies i.e, to be ready to be born you stayed in your mum for 9 months, a dog took 9 weeks, an elephant 2 years and a shrew 21 weeks. Most pages start with the phrase "all over the world". It has images of a baby being worn, a baby about to have a terry nappy put on and a baby breastfeeding, which is nice as Luath can related to these better than some other books featuring babies. Some of the words I change slightly but overall I like the book. Luath really enjoys it and has selected this book the most this week and has wanted it read twice in a row a few times. She likes most books featuring babies.
5-a-day books
(I started doing this after reading this post from almost a year ago on the Imagination Tree blog about selecting five books to read everyday for a week and why it is important.)This week's 5-a-day are mostly from our chicken theme.

Maisy getting ready to go to bed. I like Lucy Cousins drawings. Daddy has read this to Luath each night before bed and mummy has read it (the best she can!) at other times. Luath finds one of the pages very funny - Maisy on the toilet and panda on the potty.
Spot's Easter surprise
Spot and his friends go to Grandma's house to look for eggs. A board book. I doubt I would have bought this book, Luath got secondhand from a cousin, however Luath seems to like it (she kisses most of the animals in the book).
Cock-a-moo-moo
A picture book. A cockerel has forgotten how to crow. He goes around the farm each time making a different sound. Cock-a-baa-baa. Only sheep go baa. In the end he remembers how to crow after he saves the chickens from a fox. I thought Luath would enjoy this with all the animal sounds, she listens to the story but hasn't joined in.
Bob's egg and spoon race
This has a lot of words per page so sometimes Luath was turning the pages after one sentence, other times she quite happily listened to the whole story. Still not sure about machines talking, taking part in an egg and spoon race and eating pizza (the prize for winning the race).
Little chick
Big board book. Starts with a chick hatching and ends with him sleeping under mother hens wing. Luath really liked when I read this while she held her little soft chick
